The approach

Unhurried, joined-up, and grounded in the evidence

Dr Spiliotis is an NHS consultant and an honorary researcher at the University of Oxford. He reads results together, in the context of your history, and decides which investigations are needed and when. After each appointment you receive a written summary and, with your consent, so does your GP.

Why this practice. “I built this practice around time: time to listen, and time to read your results as a whole rather than as a list of numbers. I will tell you honestly what your tests show and what they do not.”
  • Up to 45 minutes for a new consultation
  • A written summary after every appointment
  • Blood tests and imaging arranged through the hospital where needed
  • The same consultant at every follow-up

Peer-reviewed publications

Good endocrinology starts with listening. Tests follow, chosen for the question being asked.

His research has focused on the hormones that control blood glucose, with publications in international peer-reviewed journals.

Lead services

Two areas of particular focus

Alongside general endocrine care, Dr Spiliotis has a particular interest in diabetes of all types and in the medical management of obesity.

Specialist focus

Diabetes of all types

Type 2 diabetes that is proving hard to control; type 1 diabetes, including insulin adjustment and advice on continuous glucose monitoring and hybrid closed-loop ("artificial pancreas") systems; and diabetes that does not fit either label, where the type itself may need to be established.

Obesity & weight management

Medical assessment of weight, including hormonal and metabolic factors where relevant, and a plan agreed with you. There is a particular interest in people with type 1 diabetes, for whom weight, insulin doses and the risk of hypoglycaemia need to be considered together.

Conditions seen in clinic

Hormones work in feedback loops that keep one another in check, and many endocrine problems arise when one of those loops is disturbed.
